How to make a Gumpaste Anemone Flower Tutorial

This week I thought it would be really fun to create another gumpaste flower tutorial for you. Now you might have seen this tutorial already in print if you saw the July issue of the Cake Decoration and Sugarcraft magazine, as I added an anemone onto the top of my Boho inspired cake, but if not I have film it as a tutorial, so you can follow along.

These flowers are so delicate and pretty and come in so many different colours, making them perfect to add to so many different types of cakes, including wedding cakes.

For the flower the petals are individually wired and I used the Squires Floral paste. I  added 10 petals in 2 different sizes but anemone’s can come with anything from 5 – 10 petals in total, so have a look at real anemones and work out how many works best for the type of flower you want to create. I think one of the most distinctive features of an anemone is the ring of stamen around the enter of the flower. I used 50 individual strands of stamen with medium balls at both ends. In the tutorial you will see how I put them together to create this pretty flower center.

I love how pretty these flowers look, especially combined with little flower buds and I hope you will find the tutorial useful. If you want to make some anemones to add onto your own cakes, below you will find the full step by step video tutorial. I really hope you will enjoy it!
